Me: “Welcome! May I offer you a free mask?”

Visitor: [looks around incredulously] “But why? There’s no one else here.”

Me: “...well...there’s me?”

Visitor: [laughs] “You don’t have anything to worry about.”

Every day I’ll hear large groups pause outside the door, read the “masks recommended” sign, debate whether or not to put them on, and then say, “Oh, well, there’s no one here, just an employee. We don’t need them.”

Cool! Come inside and find out how good I am at spin kicks!

Freelancing in technical theater means you’re on a lot of different email lists. People need a crew, they send out an email, you respond with your availability. Now, most people start these with things like “hey folks” or “hi everyone”. Neal is not most people.

His openers started off innocent enough.

Then, he started to push boundaries.

And as you can see, it has spiraled out of control since then.

non-australians and more specifically non-indigenous Australians need to understand that Aboriginal people exist at the intersection of being native AND black, because we are and have been oppressed as both Native AND black peoples. I cannot count how many times I have tried to promote indigenous Australian media in posts about black-made media only to be called anti-black by non-indigenous Australians who are unfamiliar of the specific status of Australian Indigenous peoples as both black and indigenous in a British occupied state. Here in Australia, anti-blackness is rooted in the genocide of the indigenous peoples as much as it is in global antiblackness and thus, you cannot be an ally to indigenous Australians without also being pro-black and unlearning colonial attitudes alongside antiblack attitudes. Listen to Aboriginal blackfellas when we talk about being black and indigenous because for us they are and always have been the same thing.

// white people and non indigenous ppl can reblog but quietly
